Chapter History
In the year 1921, the Grace and Hope mission was opened in York, PA. For the past 85 years we have been privileged to work in the city and surrounding areas.
Our main purpose is to preach the gospel through worship and open-air services, Sunday school, children's programs, and home and nursing home visitations.
We have a well attended Sunday school and Bible Club on Tuesday afternoon, also a youth group that helps us in the rest homes. We also have our visitation work, which includes visiting hospitals, rests home and private homes. We have found that there are so many lonely people in the world who enjoy a visit, 'just to talk."
Our relief work is a joy to us. How happy we are to be able to help those who are in need. We distribute cold meets, fruits, vegetables, canned good, baked goods and clothing. Many sandwiches are given to those who pass through the city, seeking help.
The Lord has blessed His work here and we praise Him for it.

Reports YORK, PENNSYLVANIA 119 North George Street Marlea Gutchess, Superintendent We thank God for His blessing upon our conference. The services were well attended and we enjoyed the messages and special music. We are 50 thankful for God's goodness and faithfulness. "The Lord is good ancl His love endures forever: his faithfulness continues through all generations" -Psa. 100:5. Martin Luther wrote. "I have one preacher that I love better than any other on earth. It is my little tame robin which preaches to me daily. I put his crumbs on the window sill. He hops on the sill and takes as much as he needs. From there he always Dies to a I ittle tree close by, lifts up his voice to God, si gs his SOI;g of praise and gratitude. tucks his head under his wing and goes to sleep. leaving tomorrow to look after itself. He is the best preacher I have on earth" The members of our congregation delight in coming to the services and hearing the Word of God. We are glad when Ralph Roberts and his cousin. Doris, can stop in for a service. Ralph loves to testify concerning God's goodness and plays his concertina. We are pleased when he can share the Word of God with us. We also want to thank Mel Markey for all his help here at the mission. He gladly gives of his time and service to assist us. God has a hand to help us and a heart to love us. May you expe rience true freedom as you yield your I ife to Christ. "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed," -In. 6:36 (NIV) |
